To start our class this morning, we each got a chromebook, and Mrs. Dordoni showed us how to properly create an annotated bibliography. We learned the correct format, and what else we should write. This was important, because we have an assignment on different early- age civilizations.
Next, we opened up our World History textbooks. The class analyzed the textbooks to reflect and assess one of the sources that we will be using for our assignment. Another thing we learned today, was how to correctly summarize a text or source that we are citing. This is something that quite a few students had trouble with on Thursday, since Mrs. Dordoni was not here to explain it to us.
Sourcing is one of the most important parts of writing a research paper. This is because it can tell someone who is reading your paper all of the different sources of information you used. We learned more about what the words Biased and Objective sources meant. For the next twenty minutes, the class actively annotated and summarized a part of the textbooks that we used earlier.
This lesson has to do with Social Studies, because civilizations such as The Indus River Valley, Mesopotamia, China, or Egypt, are all a large part of ancient world history. Until about the end of class, we continued working on our annotated bibliographies, and citing sources for our research. This lesson had to do with social studies, because we are currently learning about ancient civilizations such as Egypt, Mesopotamia, Ancient China, and the Indus River Valley.
