Today in class we started with our do-now in our double entry journal. The question was “What is a bibliography and why is it important to include a bibliography in a research report and other written work?” I said that if we didn't add this specific page this would be plagiarism. This is a work cited page that gives credit to the people that wrote the info. Today's objective is to write an Annotated bibliography to support my research.
Next we were talking about annotated bibliography packet. Annotating is to add notes to a text or diagram giving an explanation. Some parts of an annotated bibliography are Summarizing, Assess, and Reflect. Summarizing is too see what are the main arguments, Assess is asking is it a useful resource, and Reflect is after you have summarized and assessed you need to know how the information fits in your research paper.
Right now we are writing our annotated bibliography which must have 3 books (one must be a textbook), 1 powerpoint (file:ppt), 2 websites (1 must be edu), and there must be 1 video. In total there has to be 7 total citations. The annotation must be well written just like in google docs. Heres some info about plagiarism.
This is important because you must be able to give credit to the person that has written the information and you are not charged for plagiarism. This has to do with social studies and other classes because throughout our life whenever we are taking information that we didn't write we must cite our work. Finding out who wrote it and giving them credit by putting their website on the bibliography page.
2 Questions/Thoughts - To wrap up things, I believe that you should not use somebody else's words as your own that isnt fair because they worked to make those words. But if you do then you must give them credit on the bibliography page. Staying true to yourself is the best.
Homework: Our homework is to answer edmodo discussions by Monday at 8am and if you are a discussion leader post by Thursday 10:00pm. Also the bibliography is due by Friday 17th.
