Class started with writing the do now in are double entry journals. The do now said, “what is a comparitive essay?”(It is an essay that compares two subjects) Next, Ms. Dordoni went over the blogging, who was blogging and posting questions on edmodo. Then Ms. Dordoni explained what we’re going to write tomorrow ,we have to choose 2-3 creation myths and compare their different cultures and regions and how they viewed themselves as humans compared to the earth. Tomorrow, we have to write a comparitive essay about the creation myths in class. The criteria for tomorrow is on slide 5 in this link.
Finally, we ended class with getting into groups for sharing and explaining creation myths for myths that didn’t present yet.
The lesson was important to our learning because it is important to understand different cultures on how they thought the world begun. It is also important to compare creation myths espeacially in a comparitive essay. This relates to social studies because it makes people think in other people’s point of view. Which is very important to everyday economics to solve conflicts in the world caused by different cultures disagreeing. This also teaches part of the history of the world and sometimes by putting together people’s different point of views you can sometimes assume our history.Except myths are made up from cultural point of views which are assumptions.
I think since no one had any proof of the world’s beginning back then, comparing different creation myths, also helps us understand how different peoples imaginations are.
Homework:
DUE TOMORROW: Edmodo discussion- respond to a question and respond to a response.
